Positive Behavioural Support in Hereford

Sally Nickless is a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst based in Hereford, who has worked to enable children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to improve their quality-of-life outcomes. She has been using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) model since 2010, to fantastic results. Her specialisation for those with autism and learning disabilities has seen children and young people learn to manage their behaviour and live better lives. Her positive behavioural support, based in Hereford, is available across the county of Herefordshire and beyond, into the surrounding areas. Sally's Background

How did Sally get to where she is today? In 2008, she embarked on a career change. The vision: To do something meaningful and rewarding. There began a nine-month voluntary placement, where Sally worked as an outdoor adventure leader with a charity. During this time, Sally supported vulnerable and disadvantaged children to undertake outdoor activities, including kayaking, rock climbing, orienteering, and learning bush craft skills. This experience ignited a new purpose for Sally; to help children live better lives. After the placement finished, Sally worked as a support worker, supporting an 18-year-old man with a learning disability, autism and ‘behaviours of concern'. This experience gave Sally a more definitive purpose; to help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities lead more meaningful and rewarding lives. She now fulfils that calling, as a behaviour analyst based in Hereford.

What She Does Today

Since 2010, Sally has supported, supervised, and consulted for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, in educational settings, health, and social care settings, as well as private, home-based environments. As Sally became more experienced and gained further professional qualifications, she began delivering clinical supervision, mentorship, and training to students, supervisees, staff, and parents. Now, she is a BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst) based in Hereford, offering her unique, personalised services to all, across the county and into the surrounding areas.

The PBS Approach

The ‘Positive Behaviour Support' (PBS) approach is an excellent, evidence-based model to use when supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It reflects the same values and belief systems which are inherently instilled in Sally's approach to her work. Sally always values the uniqueness of everyone she works with, designing packages of support that are specifically tailored to individual needs and requirements.

"I had the pleasure of working with Sally. She is an extremely knowledgeable BCBA, who has a fantastic conceptual understanding of PBS. She is very passionate about improving the quality of life for all individuals she works with. I would recommend her without hesitation."

"I absolutely loved working with Sally. From the first moment we worked together, I felt so comfortable. She was an amazing supervisor and person; both professionally and personally. I felt comfortable asking her questions about positive behaviour support. Sally was always there when days had been emotionally draining. Years on and I'm still in contact with her - that speaks volumes on the kind of person she is."
