Positive Behavioural Support in Hereford

Your BEHAVIOUR ANALYST

Sally Nickless is a UK-SBA (cert) and BCBA, who uses evidence-based behavioural science to teach coping, self-regulation and mindfulness skills, to enable neuro-divergent children, to live fuller, bigger, more meaningful lives. Sally has lived experiences of growing up feeling 'not part of' and 'different from'. Since she was a teen, she struggled with a range of issues at school and later on in her 20s, in a number of workplaces. Sally has additionally struggled with relationships. It was only later on in life, whilst working with children with ADHD and becoming a mum, that Sally realised she also had ADHD. Something that she was diagnosed as having, as an adult. This first hand experience coupled with her knowledge and application of behavioural support, based in Hereford, makes her the ideal person to understand, empathise a support a child with their struggles.

Sally's Background

How did Sally get to where she is today? In 2008, she embarked on a career change. The vision: To do something meaningful and rewarding. There began a nine-month voluntary placement, where Sally worked as an outdoor adventure leader with a charity. During this time, Sally supported vulnerable and disadvantaged children to undertake outdoor activities, including kayaking, rock climbing, orienteering, and learning bush craft skills. This experience ignited a new purpose for Sally; to help children live better lives. After the placement finished, Sally worked as a support worker, supporting an 18-year-old man with a learning disability, autism and ‘behaviours of concern'. This experience gave Sally a more definitive purpose; to help children with autism and later on ADHD, to lead more meaningful and rewarding lives. She now fulfils that calling, as a behaviour analyst based in Hereford.

What She Does Today

Since 2010, Sally has supported, supervised, and consulted for neuro-divergent children, in SEN and mainstream schools, as well as home-based environments. As Sally became more experienced and gained further professional qualifications, she began delivering clinical supervision, mentorship, and training to students, staff and parents. Now, she is a UK-SBA (cert) and BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst) based in Hereford, offering her unique, personalised services to all, across the county and into the surrounding areas.

The BEHAVIOURAL Approach

Behavioural science is an evidence-based model with excellent results, which is a great fit for supporting neuro-divergent children. The approach echoes the same values and belief systems which are inherently instilled in Sally's approach to her work. Sally always values the uniqueness of everyone she works with, designing packages of support that are specifically tailored to individual needs and requirements.
